Our History

Established in 1964, Grafton Furniture began with Esteban Grafton, a Cuban immigrant to the United
States, Esteban took his apprenticeship in Hoboken, New Jersey before enlisting in the United States
Army to fight in the Korean War. After his service, Esteban moved him and his budding family to Miami,
FL where he continued to develop his abilities as an upholsterer. Esteban Grafton was a risktaker and his
day would come at the Hialeah racetrack when he hit the trifecta, winning a hefty purse and opening his
own upholstery shop shortly after. He opened next to a local Burdines, repairing and reupholstering
customer’s furniture. His American Dream was realized.

In 1985, his second son, Steve Jr., would open a showroom in the Design Center of the Americas in
Hollywood, FL to take Grafton Furniture to the next level. He worked and collaborated with the design
community to build his reputation as a go-to source for high-end upholstery. The next 35 years saw
steady growth and the development of designers from California to New York to London.
Now Steve has his children working at Grafton Furniture as well. Furniture is a part of this family and this
family is proud to share their family’s work with the world.
